Letter to Senoirs from Ms. Rizzo !!!
Hello, dear Seniors!
You who know me well know that I am seldom at a "loss for words". The way we express that in Spanish is "sin palabra". That is pretty much how I find myself when I reflect on all the nice things you have done for me during the years I have known you and, most especially, these past few weeks.
I want to thank you for making my last few years of teaching rewarding, stimulating and important to me.
I have loved being your teacher and working with each of you. I do not really know where to begin thanking you for all the rest. I will start by asking that you forgive me for not saying more at your banquet. That time is really about you, not me, and I wanted you to have the time to celebrate your accomplishments and enjoy being with your families. I was so pleased to receive the painting that Adrian and Dylan did--it's perfect...right down to the mismatched times on the bell tower clocks. How funny!
I want Kyle to know how much I value his words toward the end of the evening. You made me feel as though my life's work has had an impact. I loved your farewell speech.

To Jennifer Le, I send my many thanks for mentioning her old Spanish teacher in her superb valedictory address. Her words made me feel uplifted and appreciated on the day of my last graduation. I want her to know how important her words were to me.
To our IB Parents and Alliance: Thank you for a beautiful banquet, the much-appreciated dinner certificate and for all the beyond-the-call-of-duty things you all have throughout the years for each of us teachers. You generosity to us and your devotion to your children are exceptional. (SENIORS: Please make sure your parents read this part! No Excuses!!) ;)
To you all--you are now in the process of reinventing yourselves as am I. I wish each one great, good luck and I wish you all happiness and gratitude in your good times, fortitude and patience in your trials.
I will miss you all more than you can know.

Final Transcripts for Seniors
Final transcripts will be sent to colleges on June 17, 2010. Students have already filled out a request (yellow form that they filled out at the IB English paper 1 exam).
If a college choice has changed since then they will need to notify me before June 17. I will also send the college request to IB so that scores will be sent to the colleges in July. There is no charge for either the transcript or the IB reports.
Parents, I enjoyed the four years I have spent with your children. It's been a great journey and I am proud of their accomplishments.

Class of 2010: IB Exam Results
Congratulations to each of you for completing such a rigorous course of exams.
Now, I hope you will relax and enjoy your Senior Banquet, Graduation, and this summer!
As you know, your IB exam results will be available July 6th. Mr. Jones will distribute your pincodes and candidate numbers at the Senior Banquet. You will need this information to access your results.

IB Hood for Graduation
It is customary for students to wear IB hoods on top of their graduation robes. It goes over your head and drapes down your back.
The IB logo is embroidered white on black. There is as sample in the IB office if you would like to come by and take a look at the hood.
Unlike caps and gowns, students are allowed to use/borrow a hood if they wish from a former graduate.
At this time, I have some extra hoods. If you would still like to get one please see Mrs. Brockinton in the IB office, room 122c.
Checks should be made payable to:
Hillsborough High School - in the amount of $20.00.
Also, please write the student’s name clearly on the check.

Seniors: CAS completion deadline Tuesday, April 20, 2010 !!!
The CAS completion deadline for the Class of 2010 is Tuesday, April 20, 2010.
"Completion" is defined as having all activities approved, completed, and the proper documentation submitted to the senior homeroom teacher. The yellow CAS form indicates an April 15th due date, however that falls in the middle of Spring Break.
Of the 150 CAS hours due on April 20th, at least 75 hours must be service hours; at least 25 creative hours; at least 25 action hours; the other 25 hours applied to any category.
The complete guidelines for CAS are available on the HHS IB website. All CAS activities must be approved by the homeroom teacher prior to the activity taking place.
If you have any questions about CAS, please contact your child homeroom teacher. Participation in senior activities will be withheld from students that miss CAS deadlines. In addition, CAS is a requirement for both the IB and State of Florida diplomas. In other words, an IB student can't graduate from high school or receive a diploma without successfully completing CAS.
Please make sure thatt you have all CAS completed by the deadline.

Seniors, your pictures needed !!!
We will be creating a slide show to commemorate this year’s graduating seniors at the IB Banquet.
As all seniors should already know, we need both a baby/toddler picture and a more recent picture of each senior. We have received many of these already, but we still need over half the class’s pictures.
Pictures may be submitted as follows:
- Via email to traceco@tampabay.rr.com. If you are scanning before sending, please scan with at least a 150 DPI resolution.
- Hardcopy to Amber Davis (Homeroom – Dr. Opp). We are trying to scan pictures each night and you should get your originals back within one school day.
In addition to the individual pictures of each senior, we are also looking for other pictures journaling the senior’s time at Hillsborough High School. There have been many events -- from sporting events to homecomings to trips to Europe -- which I’m sure have generated numerous pictures.
If seniors have something that they would like to submit for inclusion in the slide show, please email it to the above email address or give hardcopies to Amber Davis for scanning.

Bright Futures Scholarships
Seniors,
Now is the time to apply for your Bright Futures Scholarships. Even if you do not plan to attend a Florida school, you should still apply. You can not predict the future and it only takes 10 minutes to complete the application online.
Every senior should have received a blue packet in homeroom on Tuesday, December 1 which has very specific directions on how to complete the online application.

Senior Class : Caps and Gowns
The Senior class attended an assembly today Sep 14th about ordering graduation announcements and caps and gowns.
Each student received a letter with instructions and information about ordering online.
Herff Jones is the company that will be supplying your graduation needs. They will be in the HHS auditorium on Conference night, Sept 24th to take orders and answer your questions. I recommend that you order as early as possible.
- Orders should be placed on Sept 24th and Sept 25th.
- Please mark "IB" in the lower left hand corner of your order form.

Commencement Date is Thursday, June 10, 2010. It will be held at the USF Sundome at 3pm. Mandatory rehearsal is same day from 7am-9am.

2010 seniors should have received information about senior photos directly from Bryn-Alan Studios. If you have not received information about an appointment, please visit Bryn-Alan Studios
website to make an appointment. Bryn Alan is located at 502 W. Grand Central, in downtown Tampa across from the University of Tampa.
The deadline for inclusion in the yearbook is early September so please don't delay.
