I am so proud to announce that Ellie Rodriguez, editor of the Red & Black, is a finalist for Florida Student Journalist of the Year. Ellie is an impressive young leader and versatile journalist. She is well-respected by her peers like few editors who have come before.

She is Hillsborough's sixth finalist in eight years, joining Emily Matras (2008), Jose Perez (2010), Zack Peterson (2011), Rachel Mowat (2013) and Liz Tsourakis (2014).

FSPA will announce the winner in April.     Details:

 2-15-15   See Africa 2016
Hello Parents,

This is Mr. Gast from Hillsborough High School and I am contacting you to share some exciting news. As you know, for the last several years I have organized student tours to Europe all of which have been enriching and enjoyable.   I am now adding a new phase of travel opportunities that will focus on adult travel.  The first tour that my wife and I are organizing is set for Africa, to launch in July of 2016.

She and I had the great fortune of traveling to Tanzania in 2013 and we came away from the tour completely awestruck by the beauty and a desire to return so we could see and learn more.

We are going to schedule an information meeting for late March or early April to be held at the Seminole Heights Library.

At the meeting we will go over costs, travel details and requirements so that you will have all the information you need to make a decision about being a part of this experience.

If you are interested in being kept on our information email list, please let us know.  We look forward to hearing from you.   In the meantime, 'like' us on facebook at See Africa 2016.  Take care.

Hello All,

I am pleased to announce the results of the GATORMUN Model United Nations Competition this past weekend.
There were over 550 delegates to the competition.  Our students did well against some very tough competition.
Meghana Bhimreddy won the Position Paper Award for representing Iraq in UNICEF
Parth Patel won the Position Paper Award for representing Mohawk War Chief Joseph Brant in the Iroquois Confederacy Crisis Committee
Cade McCurdy won the Honorable Delegate for representing Miguel Santiago  - First Mate - in The Adventures of Hernan Cortes Crisis Committee
Nick Pham won Outstanding Delegate by represeting the COSVN Party Secretary in the Communist Government of Vietnam 1955 Crisis committee - he actually was able to assassinate Ho Chi Minh and place himself into the Presidency the second day of the conference and stayed President.  A true accomplishment.
Competition was the toughest it has been in many years.  I think they did an awesome job.
